Exploring the Web's Pre-History

The Web has been with us more than ten years now, and it's getting harder and harder to remember what life was like before there were such things as browsers, plug-ins, and even URLs.

Fortunately, a wonderful site called textfiles.com, run by Jason Scott, serves up megabytes of pre-Web text files from the full range of interactive computer activities available to our benighted forbearers, including early documentation from text-based BBS systems, antique ANSI art, files on primitive home/video games of the late 1980's and early 1990's, and other wonderful info-clutter that time would have otherwise erased from our collective memory.
