Hats off to Professor Kirsch

An October 28 story in the Washington Post (registration required) recounts the efforts of Professor David A. Kirsch to preserve many of the crazy business plans of the Golden Age of Webmania, otherwise known as the "dot-com era".

More than 2300 moldy business plans reside at Kirsch's site, businessplanarchive.org, and as noted in the story, they provide a nearly comprehensive record of entrepeneurial insanity.

The Library of Congress, which provided a $235,000 grant to Professor Kirsch, is also to be commended. It is encouraging to all Web historians to see such a commanding expression of official support for Web history projects.
