A Cyber-Death Recalled: Boo.com

The indefatigable Morbus, master of the dark, unquiet waters that constitute the disobey.com domain, e-mailed me with news that Boo.com has been dead for five years now. "Five years!" I replied. "Man, do I feel old."

From what I hear, Boo.com's founders have had, over the past five years, little luck marketing their hard-luck story to Hollywood and the book world. They did publish a book, but it did poorly. And their proposal for a big-budget movie based on their professional incompetence went nowhere.

Few people remember Boo.com today, and that's just how it is on the memoryless expanses of the Boulevard of Broken Links.

You can read a long essay I wrote on Boo.com and study artifacts and other electronic effluvia related to the ill-fated e-retailer by clicking here.
