Ghyll talk:Nesting

Do you think the Ghyllian Reproduction entry should be "retrofitted" to more closely match with this one? The egg reference, I mean. Also, perhaps the reference to numbers in the Ghyllian Reproduction article. It may not need it, but I thought I should bring it up. --Doctor Phineas Crank 09:00, 16 Jan 2005 (EST)

I think the term "offspring" used in Ghyllian reproduction is consistent with egg-laying. I've changed some references to "hatching" (which should have been "laying" anyhow) to use "expulsion" instead. --John Cowan 11:46, 19 Jan 2005 (EST)

John - ickle scales? How much do they collect of that? Ickles fit in the throats of Ghyllians, so they must harvest Ickle scales for months and months before Nesting, just to collect a sufficient amount to even be viable as nesting material. Unless, of course, we're talking of some alternate breed of Ickle. --Morbus Iff 11:03, 18 Jan 2005 (EST)

I've added "giant" before "ickle". --John Cowan 11:46, 19 Jan 2005 (EST)

Crank - there are tons of previous entries that could use to be updated because of newer knowledge gained. I've not yet decided how to handle that in-game. The current thought is that we're all writing the "first draft" of the first release of the encyclopedia. Once the "first draft" is done (ie., Z is finished), then the Encyclopedants (and player-editors, etc.) would go in and make the "final draft". Said "final draft" would occur before the Second Edition of the encyclopedia (being Round 2 of Ghyll). There's a bunch of stuff bouncing around in my head, and as we're nearing the end of Round 1, I'll need to write it all down and start collecting opinions and progression. --Morbus Iff 11:10, 18 Jan 2005 (EST)

Indeed. All that aside, of course, Mr. Cowan amended his article quite deftly so it all seems to fit quite nicely. Not that I was implying he should change his articles, but he did, and well, too. --Doctor Phineas Crank 23:34, 20 Jan 2005 (EST)
