Agreed. I must admit that before I clicked on the link I was expecting a Bunch-of-Squiggles situation (call the mayor! we've got a bunch of squiggles situation on fifth street!), but when I loaded it I was rather pleasantly surprised to see a work of art. Concerning "what is authoritative?", the short, out of game response is, "entries are authoritative, comments are not." It's fine for the scholars to argue points to death, and we certainly encourage that, but whereas comments are fast "shotgun" submissions, entries are "slower" and more "accurate." When you're writing your entries, you can certainly use scholarly discussion as influence, thus making something canonical ("ha, ha! told you!"), but naturally, it has to "work" - to fit in with the rest of what we know from previous encyclopedia entries, etc., etc., etc. Likewise, you can certainly allude in your entries that something you're making canon is "up for discussion" due to lack of hard evidence, translation issues, suspicion (did Windsor really murder Daniel, etc.) (in fact, a number of our existing entries seem to have hooks like that). "Entries yes, comments no" is just a way to give the poor admins a chance to breath in regards to stuff like the timeline, the progress reports, the who's who, and so forth. --[[User:Morbus Iff|Morbus Iff]] 09:11, 6 Sep 2004 (EDT)

Aelfants are the unfortunate outcome of a tryst betwixt [[Pyxie]] and pachyderm. It is a little know fact that [[Pyxie]]s, when intoxicated on fermented [[Fefferberry]] wine, will begin to shapeshift and become quite randy. They are responsible for most of the legends of halfbreeds and man-monsters that have come down to us from long ago. Alas, as the Aelfants' time has passed and their numbers have grown ever smaller, the few remaining Aelfants have retreated further and further west into the protective shadow of the two great [[Alezanians|Alezanian]] spires. They have fled the inhabited [[Evesque Valley]] never to be seen again.

Most people don't believe Aelfants truly exist, but I've seen one with my own two eyes. Just outside my garden, a few years back. I'll never forget that mighty beast's glowing, emerald hide. Pixel: The Avazin Box stopped a war.

In the First Epoch, the Avazian people were advanced metal workers, unlike the other races during that time. Consequently, the development of the Avazian civilization advanced quickly. This advancement came with the side effect of immense greed. Many highly advanced magnetic propulsion weapons were developed using the Avazian's science knowledge and metalworking skills, and were subsequently used in the [[Third Avazian War]].

Millions of lives were lost during the initial bombings. Many protests were conducted, having little effect on the war. Realizing this lack of success, a small group of Avazian scientists (mainly female, since the Avazians had very few males in the population) on both sides of the war who were investigating new magnetic propulsion technologies, formed a secret team intending to thwart the ongoing war.

This team, calling themselves The Blackguard Avazians, developed a powerful semiconductor capable of containing large magnetic fields. They shaped this material into boxes approximately 18 [[nanits]] on each side. The boxes are refered to as the Avazian Boxes, Avazian War Boxes, or sometimes just Their Boxes. The properties of these boxes were astounding. Magnetic fields within a large radius were simply dissipated, which rendered all weapons that were of Avazian origin ineffective, by simply applying a small electric charge to the box once, and the absorption of the magnetic field would perpetuate the magnetic-sucking acion indefinitley.

After the creation of these boxes, war was completely eliminated although there were side effects. Most all technology the Avazians had invented was magnetic-based and ceased to work from that point forward. This caused the reversal of technological development for the Avazians, and eventually the collapse of their society.

Early in the Third Epoch, an un-activated Avazian Box was found buried in the Avazian ruins, and was activated by accident, causing much havok around. The box was buried deeply, and was also covered in a Lead alloy to prevent further magnetic drain.

It is expected that the box will run out of energy in the 25th Epoch.
