. . . : ; C h i c o ' s G r o o v e ; : . . . . . . : ; . . . : ; eno - jan 1 1998 . . . : ; . . . : ; http://www.disobey.com/ . . . : ; The "WHAT-THE-HELL-IS-THIS" Notice This is Chico's Groove, our biweekly foray into our lives, the actions of Disobey, and the new things that we have been doing with the website, with other people, and everything else. Basically, if you want to know everything there is to know about Disobey and its creators, then this is the easiest, truest source. If you plan on killing us, all pertinent information is located at your local supermarket stand. . . . : ; The "WHY-THE-HELL-AM-I-RECEIVING-THIS" Notice Well, for any number of reasons, with the most obvious being that you subscribed. We have also taken it upon ourselves to add the emails of people we have worked with, or have expressed interest in the workings of Disobey. If you don't want this, simply respond to this email with a pissed off reason, and we'll remove you. There are 24 people on this list. . . . : ; ANNOUNCEMENTS and all that other junk NEW GHOST SITES (#11) : On December 31st, a new issue of GHOST SITES was released. Growing quickly with the added visibility of Disobey, Ghost Sites has been mentioned in the New York Times' Cybertimes section of their website. We have also been told of an imminent mention in the February issue of Internet World, which will be available on January 15th. We'll tell you what page we're on when our case of copies comes in . AND NEW DEVIL SHAT (#Seventeen): Since Chico's Groove is sent out the same time as DEVIL SHAT, you can always expect a new issue of that to be in this "new stuff" section. This issue has three articles (two from contributors) and covers Morbus' interpretation of New Year's Day, why we should "Kill a Tree for Christ" and an article about "the revolution". We're back to our old selves after our holiday issue, so check it out. PLAYTIME FOR CALX?: The next update intended for CALX, our original music section is due on the 8th of January. And then we will be gearing up for our February 1st release of the first Calx album, "Closing Themes for the Opened". So, to drum up some enthusiasm for the release, we are looking for people willing to hit up their local radio stations, clubs, dj, or what have you. Talk to them about playing some of our stuff, or otherwise promoting us. The response to Calx has been good (as the response has been for most of Disobey's stuff), and we would like to see it get better. Some other things to consider might be RealAudio channels, pirate radio stations, or college airwaves. NEW BEN OHMART STUFF: Five new pieces have been added to the Ben Ohmart section of COLLECTED WORKS. From three short films (So Silky, Quark, The Box) to two new plays (Worst Comes to Shove, Wa Fracks), you've got plenty to read. We love this guy's stuff, and we have a lot more to add. . . . : ; EVERYTHING else and stupid things about our life THE DAY OF ATTACHMENTS: Attachments are these stupid little files that can be added on to email to allow you a rudimentary file transfer. Every so often we receive an attachment... someone's christmas card, a new piece for a Collected Works section, or something else. On December 21, 1997, however, we strangely received 12 attachments in one day. We don't know why, but it was just striking to us. WHEN WE SAY: When we say "week", we really mean two weeks. Otherwise, everytime we have a "blahblah of the week", we would have to have two of them to cover both of the weeks that pass between publication of Chico's Groove. Of course we could always say "blahblah of the biweek", but that just sounds stupid. CHRISTMAS IMAGE: On Christmas Day, at about 1:32 in the morning, we uploaded a special Christmas image for our front pages. Only 62 people saw this (according to the start and end counter numbers). . . . : ; BLAHBLAHS OF THE WEEK ( dec 17th - dec 31st ) [Junk Food of the Week]--= Raspberry Zingers ---Basically red, coconut covered twinkies [Soda of the Week]--= Surge, Coke's new "gen-x" marketing vehicle ---Perty much tastes like bland juice mixed with schweppes tonic water [Ice Cream of the Week]--= Breyers rainbow ice cream ---Not sherbert, fruit flavored ice cream, bright as crayons and addictive ---as hell. [Restaurant of the Week]--= Irving gas station's in-house Taco Bell ---They were open on christmas day! this more than makes up for the fact ---that they don't serve "chilitos." [TV Time Slot Line up of the Week]--= The WB's Cartoon Line Up ---Men in Black, Animaniacs, Batman, the Batman and Superman ---show. [Movie of the Week]--= Scream 2 ---Do I honestly need to explain myself here? in total, Disobey has seen this ---film 10 times. (note: this is technically scream 2's second week in a row, ---jackie brown was good but Scream 2 was still better) [Terrible Movie of the Week That Looked Good in Previews But We Should ] [Have Known Sucked Because the Director's Previous Work was Unwatchable] [at Best]--= An Amercan Werewolf in Paris ---This point blank sucked. The worst movie to hit theaters since spawn. [Hassle of the Week]--= Setting up Yakub's modem ---this tiresome effort has still gone unrewarded as he still doesn't have a ---working modem-setup. . . . : ; The Issue is now Done. . . . : ; SUBSCRIBE: morbus@disobey.com SUBJECT: Subscribe Chico's Groove . . . : ; UNSUBSCRIBE: morbus@disobey.com SUBJECT: Unsubscribe Chico's Groove
