Hm.. let me run this past you. This is the basis on which I made the decision that the hork could carry James:

The entry for TransAvian states that the weight of a coconut is approximately 9 lugyup.

In the entry for the Chesix System of Measures it is stated:

(A) "A cube of water 1 nanit x 1 nanit x 1 nanit will have a mass of 1,331 gyup, equal to 0.86037 lugyup."

(B) "1 nanit = 20 centimetres (7.87 inches)"

From (B), the cube of water described in (A) measures 20cm on a side. This cube will have a volume of 8 litres.

Assuming that water has the same density in Ghyll and Gerth (1 litre weighs approximately 1 kilogram), the cube of water described in (A) weighs approximately 8 kilograms.

From this we can equate 8kg with 0.86037 lugyups. Therefore, 9 lugyups (as mentioned in the Transavian entry) is approximately 83.7kg! It seems the Ghyllian coconuts weigh a lot more than ours. And why not?

I haven't done much research on Ghyllian physiology, but I haven't found any mention of how much a typical Ghyllian weighs. I'm sure it could be inferred from some combination of entries. However, as long as James weighed less than 80kg, the hork would have been able to carry him. --Larj Zyquon 11:30, 25 May 2005 (EDT)
