I may be the pot blackguarding the kettle here, but I think that the references to Karel Capek, Ford, and General Motors are just too in-your-face and should be replaced with something less explicit. Encyclopedants, what say you? --Jcowan 23:46, 6 Oct 2004 (EDT)

I agree. This is too close to "Earth parody" for me - see the discussion "Alternate Reality vs. Fictional World" on the Lexicon discussion. I admit, we're breaching into grey areas here: what with Sean's HANDBAG and the whole "Speedish Chef" / "BORK" thing, but blatant FORD/GM connotations, especially in regards to competing companies and mechanical automatims, are too much for me. Thoughts? --Morbus Iff 00:35, 7 Oct 2004 (EDT)

Aw, okay, I'll come up with new organizations. I'd like to leave the people, though, if that's not too over the top. --Doctor Phineas Crank 06:36, 7 Oct 2004 (EDT)

Right, the names are changed. One of them happens to be an actual corporation acronym, but that was totally accidental. Sorry for all the extra copyediting work on this one, but I was actually getting work done at work for a change! I hope the rest of the jokes aren't too heavy-handed. --Doctor Phineas Crank 07:30, 7 Oct 2004 (EDT)

I heartily enjoyed this entry. Al Bundy, love objects, dead babies, hooHAH! --Morbus Iff 23:38, 13 Oct 2004 (EDT)

Thank you! I hope everyone caught the jokes. Of course, I snuck C3PO in there and my wife came up with the reference to Data for me. Her favorite ST:NG joke is the bit about him being "fully functional". (Luckily, she likes goofy guys with big noses, since she thinks I bear a passing resemblance to Mr. Spiner.) --Doctor Phineas Crank 07:47, 14 Oct 2004 (EDT)
