Ellensworth is a quaint little town living in the shadow of Pelon Peak inside the Andelphracian River Valley. It is mainly known for three things: its near-destruction in -20 EC by the normally sleepy and friendly mountain, the fact that it has the largest production of gruff fiction in all of Ghyll, and its specially distinctive food. Otherwise, it is pretty unremarkable.

Most travelers come to Ellensworth to take a short vacation and rest, as there is little else to do. However, there is an annual festival to commemorate the death of the fallen individuals from the eruption of -20 EC, which is also used as a ward to prevent any similar event happening in the future.

All of the houses in town are on the banks of the Andelphracian River, creating a spectacular variety of water transports and delighting any present onlookers. Most houses are made from wood, but some owners have ingeniously used the stone found in the river and lava rocks from the nearby Pelon Peak. It is worthwhile to take a quiet stroll through the city and admire the local buildings. The 'Water Street' tour gives a good grasp of the aesthetic values of the local designers.

As there is no fertile ground in the valley, folks have resorted to eating all the even slightly edible items found in the river. This has created a unique cuisine, well-known in all of Ghyll, as there are myriads of weeds, plants and animals. But the river also contains the mineral ingredients which are mainly responsible for the rich and salty taste of the food. The daily collection of food from the river is quite spectacular, and eager travelers can even help the locals collect the famous ingredients if they are strong enough to swim in the strong current.

The giant building containing the 'Record of All Gruff Fiction' should not be missed by book-lovers, as there are thousands and thousands of titles that can be consulted in the library, as well as a bookstore to buy old and new classics.
