As a whole, you just have to wonder. You just have to wonder how stupid our society has become and is. Look around you. We have more high school dropouts then ever which can easily be combatted by saying we have more kids that stay in college. Which in essence is true. But in general, we are having more kids. We are also having more abortions, but then you need to wonder why people feel that by blowing up an abortion clinic that they have earned a point for life. A point for life? They shoot two people (and wounding others) and yet they feel that they are justified. They feel that they have done their society a great deed.

We have to wonder about where hero worship is going. Sure, there was a bomb at the Olympics. And sure, that security guard saved people from dying. What a hero. Tomorrow we will talk about how our "hero" is the number one suspect. We worship him because we need some sort of assertion that there are good people in the world. And then when we find there is no criminal, instead of looking for one, the public demands one immediately. Someone who they can hate and scorn. So they turn to they're "hero". He is the enemy now, and hey, should it matter? He is as expendable as anyone else in this world.

We look around and say, "Hey! Condemn California for legalizing marijuana!" and yet many parents still don't tell their 7 years old about, so blind in their security that it couldn't happen so young.

We watch the TV, and we see death and we change the channel. Oh, we don't change it because we are mortified by it, no, we change it because we have seen it all before. We have become so desensitized to the massive death that we see on the news that we are merely bored by it. We seem to, rather rejoice in the fact that we can watch NYPD Blue, watch someone get shot, go to the hospital (nary showing a bit of blood) and then come out fine, just in time for the next episode. We know people who complain because they are spending $30 a week on cigarettes and that it's gonna kill them. Big deal. We all know a government who spends $430 billion to KILL ALL OF US! You see, we need to stop accepting things for being face value. We need to stop mindlessly nodding our heads and saying "Yes, that's the way" when we know it isn't. You just need to wonder.

Why is it we are so attracted to face value? "Don't judge a book by its cover" I could sit here and type questions all day: why do we constantly ignore wisdom passed down through the ages, why do we judge first and then ask questions later, why are we so damned irrational? Do you want to know how many people emailed back and complained that they were christian or mormon or so forth? Look, folks. I respect your religion (which a lot of you won't believe) and I am glad you are firm in your beliefs. But, you're beliefs are not in contest for this zine. Nor are they being challenged. As a matter of fact, this zine has had nothing to do with religion since it has been released, or since it was in the planning stages. And it doesn't plan to.

People just need to get past the title of Devil Shat. What does Devil Shat mean? Which is another thing that confused me. People email me or IM me and they ask me "What is it? What is it?" My first response is "did you read it?" Do you know how many people said "no"? As many people that thought it was a religious bashing zine. Why can't people do a little thinking on their own, a little research on their own? And more importantly... can people at least attempt to judge with a little background on the subject? I guess not. I'll be intensely curious as to how many similar responses for this issue now that I've explained my feelings about it. Ah twell.

OH! I remember issue three!! That's where like you said that people were worthless or something...well...uhmm..... notheyrenot [s]. Ok... (I had this so perfectly mapped out in my head yesterday, but all my thoughts are gone now!)...the way I see it (and as we all know, my word is law, and I know everything...etc etc etc..) people can't be worthless cuz there's always gonna be someone somewhere that appreaciates something (anything) that you've done. Which...kinda makes their deeds worth something (to someone) and therefor makes them a worthwhile person (going with the logic that you ARE what you DO). I love that logic...it makes me wanna babble on and on about good and evil and wotnot.

I'm glad to see people who are dedicated to making people think.

Our society is so pathetic. People are so accustomed to conformity that it actually scares most people to think for themselves. People judge, accuse, and hate by other people's standards. In my opinion, It seems the reason for this is that people need a scapegoat. They do not want to face their responsibilities...so this way they can put the blame on someone else.

I think people need to take a step back and take a good look at what's going on around them. Devil Shat gets some of this information out. If anything by Devil Shat shocks people, then they really should continue reading it. If something shocks you it's because you have no knowledge of it. If you have no knowledge of the subject then how can you really judge it? It's funny but dangerous to see people judge something they know nothing about.

Anyway...I just agree with the thoughts in Devil Shat and add me to that sub list.

On the subject of Devil Shat attackers... isn't it funny how the religions that claim the greatest "love" for everyone are always the first to attack anyone who seemingly contradict their beliefs. These mindless little puppets become so belligerent at the thought that their "little God" is being attacked by something "satanic". Maybe thats one of the reasons that their religious jibberish is so unconvincing. They have reduced their God to a weakling unable to fight his own battles and then want us to believe how powerful he is. I am sure that their God is bigger than they are and more than capable. I am also sure that he is big enough to stand up for himself. I am convinced that he loves his enemies the greatest of which might be himself for creating "free will". There is no greater gift than freedom which includes freedom of speech and religion. Instead of wasting their time attacking these very freedoms that we fight to preserve, these fools should applaud the publication of Devil Shat and help to circulate it. When will they finally "see the light" and "repent from their wicked ways"??

One last comment that is worth acknowledging, you always know you are doing something right when so many people oppose you.

I just read your latest issue. I must say, it was an improvement over the last one. I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding the desensitization in our culture to violence. It is a very sad state of affairs when you can not turn on your television for more than 5 minutes without seeing someone shot or beaten or raped or horribly abused in some other manner.

I do, however, disagree with you in your unspoken, yet very blatant belief, that humanity as a whole is made up of swine. I have too often seen people do nice things for others unselfishly to believe this lie. Perhaps you need to choose your friends more wisely. Or go visit the site of the latest natural disaster and see with your own eyes people giving aid to others for no personal gain whatsoever. Then maybe you can add just a little bit of optimism to your newsletter and make it something truly special instead of just another gripe forum.

I see what you're saying. However, I do have some qualms. Yes, if you went to the latest site you would see thousands of people helping out, and giving remorse for those who need it. Caring for those who are without a home, and without a family. But, largely, this is a different case then "seen people do nice things for others unselfishly". Although I cannot debate that fact, I do have a problem with the other. The helping out of victims in a disaster situation is largely out of prodding. If one were not to help out everyone with the dam of sand bags, then they're house would get flooded also. If one were not prodded to help out the person 3 blocks down from their own house remove all their furniture before it got destroyed, these people would go about their lives, disregarding the other beyond that of a mild "hi".

Perhaps I need to choose my friends wisely? I have. That's why I think the world is filled with people who are worthless. My friends are those who help out all the time, as I do. Yet for the longest time, they and myself are the only ones who have helped out and cared for each other.
