This is the issue that... well, naturally, started it all...

ask the tv
by Morbus

What a joke we are. What a joke we have become. The Joker once said if he had a past that he would want it to be multiple choice. Too bad we can't use that to be our past and our future.

Look around us, at the books we read, the TV we watch, and the radio we listen to. Such a world of "push"; nothing is ever "pull" anymore. Nowadays, we can't even listen to a baseball game on the radio without the announcers reading some canned advertisements for some bank or for some insurance company. We mindlessly sit in our chairs and do what we have done for practically our whole miserable existence... be drawn in and then quartered by the media giants; quartered into sections of what they believe in and what they want us to buy. Such a pity.

We seem inexorably drawn into what the television and the media have made us out to be. Look at the alien craze. Companies like Schwa (whose name I'm sure I've misspelled, but I just can't wait until some alien hippie who has the Rasta Schwa on his Rabbit VW emails me the correct spelling) have become so popular that they have merely degraded what the culture once was. With shows like the X-Files, Sightings, Weird Universe and a million other variants (as widespread as the Cops ripoffs), we have become infatuated with "those who are out there" and "trusting no one". Isn't that a good message to throw to our kids? "Trust no one, Junior, you'll only get Tippered in the end."

With aliens, goatsuckers, and the paranormal in general becoming more and more mainstream, we can only expect to see a the occult sciences becoming more mainstream. With shows like Millennium, the X-Files (yet again), American Gothic, and movies like The Relic, how many more Satanists who sacrifice virgins to the Devil (the most 'movie portrayed' yet wildly inaccurate vision) will come out of the woodwork wearing their goth clothing and their paganistic symbols?

What am I trying to say? Ask the TV, for it holds all the answers.

Let's see.....Issue one was about the TV thingy, right? ok...(I'm gonna be all mean, now)...what really bugged me about that, is that I am soooooooooooo tired of hearing about all the terrible horrible things that TV is and does...ok, yea, so it rots your brain? So what?

Sometimes people need a little brain rot, yanno? (I hate it when I wanna go on and on and on but I can't think of any better way to say it then just one sentance) I gotta say...I hate the whole TV bashing thingy so much (not that I think TV is all wonderful and grace, but I get tired of hearing the same things all the time) that honestly, I'm glad I wasn't around reading your stuff back then, cuz if that had been the first issue I'd read, I wouldn't have come back for more... and...well then my life would be so empty and unfullfilled now. (and so the sarcasim continues...)

This is in response to the last comment made Meada from aol. Now you can bash TV and shit. But don't bash Howard Stern -- sure he is a slime ball, but we need someone with balls like him to at least shout out some of the people's .... feelings. And for the woman... ahem... Meada.... you can have that Albright chick and then that lawyer from Los Angeles. But for some of us men, Howard will do: he has the money, the cause, the talent, the touch. He can make people love him and hate him... but then that's good, it keeps everyone in check.

But enough of that long nosed bozo who probably screws every naked, dumbass, bimbo that visits his sex shack of radio and television with voyers (??? screw the spelling) like his assistants, and of course the PUBLIC that allowed him be this way, that brought rise to his popularity.

So the question arises... what about the freaking public. Sure, tv this and tv that... but one simple freaken' step can kill all that: the the freaken' TV off. That's all. And if you can't and you complain... then who the hell is the problem perpetuator. I know that TV has to take responsibility because they can and do affect everyone... especially inoccent kids who are taugh to fuck with someone elses chick or guy, to steal and kill for money. But don't buy TV. Read the freaken' papers... there are shit in there too. Read magazines... then, there are sluts. Watch the stars... go back to nature, and then go live in a motherfucking cave and fuck the sheeps.

One thing is for sure... we can't get away. Because even you don't watch, read, view... there millions out there that do.

So is it hopeless... I think not. It's just the way it is... But you can choose to either follow the messages, or just plain get piss and only bitch... or you can do something about it.

Don't take in so much shit from the media. When it gets all gorry, change the damn channel, tune to another station, turn the page to the next section; or plainly, turn the whole damn thing off. Take a walk in the park or something. Mop, clean: WORK.

There are a lot of shit out there. I can just type, and you can just read and say, "This is bull!!! complete utter shit!" That won't do you nor me any good. Work and volunteer. Try to find a balance between those. And TV, for adults... for responsible adults, is meant for enjoyment. When you stop enjoying because it's entertaining or enjoying hating and throwing the finger at the damn screen, that's when the TV turn's itself off, (FIGURATIVELY, nimwits...well for those nimwits).

I forget what else to type, too busy reading Playboy, waiting for paper to print while waiting for nude pictures in my e-mail, waiting for the damn popcorn to pop, watching Jerry Spring's whores and bimbo guest's fighting with midget KKK girls having an extra-marital affair with their fat, obese mothers, while I'm listening to Stern's lesbian guests go at it with theire moaning and licking and masturbations..... What was I going to say.... ah... Voltaire once said, "Work........ [ and a view paragraphs after] and we must cultivate our garden."

On the subject of T.V... isn't it funny how the powers that be in media land don't even try to hide the fact that they are feeding you their brainwashings. For God's sake, they call it Television "Programming". What could be more obvious than that? Yet many Americans faithfully buy that funny little book called the T.V. Guide to "conscientiously" select the programs that they download into their brains every week. Much like a computer, they are programmed each week by the "programs" that they choose. But different than a computer, they have the right to choose what they input. The next time I want input, I'll write my own programs. Thanks, but no thanks Mr. T.V.!! Isn't it time we think for ourselves??

So much to say. Well, I must agree with your newsletter, but I'm a little confused as to the basic bent of it. Is it based on a satanistic/paganistic platform, or just a newsletter for those people who choose to look beyond the obvious in our daily spoon-fed culture... a little of both? I'm all for looking outside the popular media. Nothing has changed since W.R. Hearst ran almost every newspaper in the country... although (to be the devil's advocate) I must say that what you could use is more of a look forward to better ways of thinking, not lamenting the past.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is, our culture never springs spontaneously from nothing. Fifty years ago, were you to be transported to my mom's hometown, you would be met by small town gossips (every town had 'em) who would instantly assess you. If you were a white man and fairly well dressed, you may be invited for dinner at one of the houses, where if you ever said the slightest thing against racial segregation, you would be thrown out on your ear into the street. The women would consider any skirt above the shin to be the sort of clothing a whore wore, the men would think the women had their place in the world, and should stay there, and everybody (with lots of silent exceptions) would be just thrilled with the way things were... and y'know, it has always, always been that way among the vast bulk of humanity, American or otherwise. Not that it is good, but human society tends to be like a pride of lions or a pack of wolves, no matter the members or surroundings, the tribe tends to regroup in the same way... so, in a long winded way, I'm saying "don't blame the media. Look at history!" Look at the way most people turn from really, really thinking things through. Thus it has always been, and hopefully will not always be.

The spoon fed culture is what we are talking out against, and also who we wish to target in some attempt to bring about your wish. Hopefully, it will not always be, true, but when you fight an opposition of people who are so enjoyable in their comfy ignorant lifestyles, we can only hope that it won't last for more than 10 years.
