APE #35 - Addendum Filed 2/1/03. This is being written after hearing about today's tragedy. When we wrote our essay about Clonaid, the lead was only intended to contrast two personalities in the news, one with a good public standing, the Plattsburgh-born space shuttle astronaut, and the other with a dubious standing, the President of Clonaid. At no time did we mean to minimize the risks faced by Lt. Col. Michael P. Anderson or to belittle the importance of his work. The essay was filed on 1/25/03 when we had no inkling of what would befall the crew of the Columbia space shuttle. If we were filing the same essay today, that lead would not be used. Our sympathy goes out to the family and friends of the Columbia space shuttle astronauts. Anti-Press
