[00:00:14]<toyo|desk>no it dosent look like there is any sort of toggle for ignore user
[00:00:15]<toyo|desk>:/
[00:01:07]<prescriptor>i have a brand new drupal install with the following two modifications: 1) enabled the blog module, 2) added a user role called blog_user that has only check boxes for create/edit/delete of blog checked. When I create a new "blog_user", the menu on the side doesn't show Create Content > Blog ... how can i fix this?
[00:01:07]<betz>and on the permissions page?

[00:05:20]<betz>anyone knows how to change the title of a field dynamically? I created a new views-view-table--contenttypename.tpl.php, but the title there isn't the right one. I find how to theme all fields etc, but not the title of the view itself. I want to write some php to dynamically create the titles.

[00:14:29]* egoleo_ has joined #drupal-support
[00:14:50]<ultra_>ok, well, here's the situation, I'm making a movie site with links to stuff on the movies, people can submit links by creating link content, right now you have to click submit links, then enter the movie and everything there, on each movie page, I want to have a link to the create page already filled in with that movie, I can do this using prepopulate, but I can't make views output the fucking link right, it U
[00:15:11]* iamjon has joined #drupal-support

[00:17:02]<pteague>well, at least i'm getting somewhere with views, even if it's nowhere
[00:17:05]<betz>so you have a node with a view attached to it, and that view only shows you a link to a form somewhere
[00:17:05]<ultra_>betz: any idea how I can prevent it from urlencoding my link? if I could just fix this one thing...

[00:22:27]<ultra_>betz: oh, one more thing maybe you can recommend a module for... i need to make it so that you can click a link and it'll send an email to the site's administrator saying one of the links is dead, is there some sort of way I can do this easily?
[00:22:30]<betz>no one knows where to change the title of a view?

[00:26:28]<betz>so with an argument i get a node refernce id. I want to set the title of that node refernce id as the views id. I can set the argument (nid) itself, but i want to set the title

[08:42:15]<toyo|desk>and that error happened when I went to clear a flag

[10:12:02]<tim666>hello i have a question about drupal and xml
[10:12:19]<tomo_>/topic
[10:12:20]<Nikit>just ask.
[10:13:32]<tim666>great, i am trying to get the aggregator to display an xml feed but the xml is not rss or atom
[10:13:59]<tim666>what are my options for getting xml into drupal?
[10:14:48]<marsilainen>tim666: have you tried looking at feedapi?
[10:14:52]<marsilainen>feedapi?
[10:14:52]<Druplicon>feedapi is FeedAPI aggregates feeds on a Drupal website by generating light weight items or nodes from feeds. http://drupal.org/project/feedapi
[10:15:06]<marsilainen>tim666: it's a bit like aggregator, but more powerful
[10:15:32]<marsilainen>tim666: you can use the parsers that come with it, or even add your own parser if necessary to parse the incoming xml
[10:15:49]<tim666>i have installed it and tried simplepie parser and the other one that comes with it but neither work
[10:16:04]<marsilainen>tim666: well, yes, they will probably expect rss/atom etc
[10:16:26]* burningdog_ has quit (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[10:16:32]<marsilainen>tim666: if it's some other sort of xml you'll probably need to create your own xml parser to use with it I guess
[10:17:00]* burningdog has joined #drupal-support
[10:17:39]<tim666>is there a way i could transform the incoming xml into something suitable?
[10:18:05]<marsilainen>tim666: for something custom like you're talking about then I would definitely be looking at going down the feedapi route rather than aggregator
[10:18:21]<marsilainen>tim666: I guess it depends on what that xml is

[10:22:19]<spat>can someone point me to a rich editor that does work? i'm using tinymce now and can't even get the insert image to work (makes forum style [img] blocks)
[10:24:17]<marsilainen>ghm33: you will probably need to modify the theme - take a look at the 'theme: information' link inside your view to know which template files to create, and see the views documentation under 'advanced help'
[10:25:03]<marsilainen>spat: not used tinymce so don't know much about it, but enough people use it so I'm sure it does work, you probably don't have it set up right, or have the right permissions, or using the right input format or something

[16:09:27]<rfay>mark1, are any node access modules in play?

[16:14:32]<rfay>PerryArmstrong, the path has to exist. Does it already exist?
[16:14:49]<PerryArmstrong>rfay; no...how do i create the path then
[16:15:47]<rfay>PerryArmstrong, there are two ways to manage paths and menus. The easiest is on the node form (edit or add a node). There you can just change both the path and the menu and they will relate to each other.
[16:16:13]<rfay>PerryArmstrong, the other way is in the menu admin area (admin/build/menu). There, to put a path, you have to have created it first.
[16:16:54]<rfay>PerryArmstrong, the normal place to have created the path is on the "URL Path Settings" on the node add/edit form
[16:17:25]<rfay>PerryArmstrong, so I always recommend to newbies *not* to use the menu admin screen if they can help it, for reasons like this.

[16:18:35]<rfay>mark1, no, pathauto won't bother you. The issue would be with a module like node_access or private or taxonomy_access - one of the modules that introduces its own access handling in addition to the standard.

[16:32:35]<add1sun>__-osh-__, have you double-checked what the front page is set to
[16:32:42]<add1sun>under site information?
[16:32:46]<rfay>mark1, config of filters is in admin/settings/filters. They're also called "input formats". Under settings for each one is a set of permissions. Perhaps your users aren't on there. I think that's going to be the answer.
[16:33:07]<add1sun>__-osh-__, at admin > site config > site info
[16:33:13]<__-osh-__>add1sun: what's it supposed to be? I think it's set to "node"
[16:33:21]<__-osh-__>add1sun: will check though.
[16:33:36]<add1sun>__-osh-__, yeah the default is node, but i want to make sure that is what it is
[16:33:42]<rfay>mark1, so you have existing content which is using an input format which your "administrators" group does not have permission to use.

[18:33:54]<marsilainen>PerryArmstrong: the blog module (part of core - optional modules) provides one blog per user, or you can setup other sorts of blogs as individual content types for example
[18:33:58]<PerryArmstrong>ohh that means for eg. like i can 2 types of blog...Microsoft, LINUX....under linux other types of blogs like Fedora, ubuntu etc... did you mean that way....sorts of hierarchial
[18:34:19]<Kenn_VM>yes
[18:34:21]<marsilainen>PerryArmstrong: it's up to you... you can do pretty much whatever you want
[18:34:58]<PerryArmstrong>i am looking to have both features...as said by marsilainen, kenn_VM
[18:35:08]<Kenn_VM>you can
[18:35:23]<Kenn_VM>the heirarchal part come from taxonomy
[18:35:39]<Kenn_VM>you can create a new blog content type if you so choose, though I don't see the need
[18:35:45]<Kenn_VM>but it can be done
[18:35:50]<marsilainen>I agree with Kenn_VM, you would want to use a heirarchal taxonomy to achieve it the best I would say

[18:36:23]<marsilainen>I would add a new content type for the blog, to keep those nodes separate from other content on your site, for ease of using views etc
[18:36:35]<marsilainen>then use taxonomy for the different categories
[18:37:00]<PerryArmstrong>like if someone starts a blog on Ubuntu...can i as an admin create a new blog type called linux and include Ubuntu under it
[18:37:23]<PerryArmstrong>and he can add as many users as he wishes
[18:37:24]<marsilainen>then you can see all posts if you go to: yoursite.com/blog or just see the linux posts at: yoursite.com/blog/linux and see the fedora ones at: yoursite.com/blog/linux/fedora for example
[18:37:59]<PerryArmstrong>so the blogs can be moved around easily
[18:38:06]<marsilainen>PerryArmstrong: hmm, what you want is a bit more complex, but it could be done, yes
[18:38:23]<PerryArmstrong>thanks to both of you
[18:38:26]<Kenn_VM>I don't understand the idea of adding "users"
[18:38:34]<Kenn_VM>drupal works on a role based permissions system
[18:38:59]<marsilainen>Kenn_VM: I presume that he means that whoever creates the blog can then select which users would be able to post to it
[18:39:15]<marsilainen>which is doable - but probably need to create some custom forms with logic
[18:40:02]<Kenn_VM>agreed but correct me if I am wrong, out of the box, you can only choose what roles can view it, and based on where his questions are going, it may actually be better to use groups
[18:40:09]<Kenn_VM>rather than content types
[18:40:17]<PerryArmstrong>yes what marsilainen said is what i meant
[18:40:56]<marsilainen>Kenn_VM: I'm not certain of the best way to do it, I think maybe using something like 'taxonomy access control' might be the way to go
[18:41:08]<Kenn_VM>hmmm
[18:41:10]<Kenn_VM>okeedoke
[18:41:21]<marsilainen>Kenn_VM: so that then each blog is given a taxonomy term and use something like that to control who can post to it, but I'm not certain
[18:41:28]<marsilainen>maybe there is some better way
[18:41:44]<Kenn_VM>the "users" part was a throw in I didn't expect

[23:43:50]<ultra_>hey, anyone know if there's already a module to display content counts (ex: X many posts Y users, etc) or if I finally get to write one :)
[23:43:52]<mrfenix>Yeah!! :D
[23:44:10]* droolpal has left #drupal-support ()
[23:44:11]<ultra_>can I do it with views somehow?
[23:44:39]<betz>ultra_: you want to show the total number of results in a view, is it that?
[23:44:59]<ultra_>betz: of several different things
[23:45:04]<mrfenix>betz: have you been able to make it so that you can create albums with Imagefield?
[23:45:13]* activelyOUT has joined #drupal-support
[23:45:21]<betz>ultra_: but always with a view?
[23:45:29]<ultra_>like, I want 2 content types I've made, and users and comments, all their counts I want to show in a block on the site
[23:45:33]<activelyOUT>hi is there an equivalent to account type
[23:45:38]<betz>mrfenix: yeah, you can use taxonomy for that
[23:46:10]<ultra_>betz: well, all I want to do is display that text in a block saying the counts of different types.

[23:46:21]<betz>ultra_: found this http://thedrupalblog.com/displaying-total-number-results-view-and-how-ma...
[23:46:33]<betz>ultra_: you could use views for making that block then

[23:48:05]<mrfenix>betz: any pointers? So would each taxonomy term be an album title?
[23:48:13]<betz>yep
[23:48:19]<mrfenix>*confused*
[23:48:21]<mrfenix>lol
[23:48:23]* marvil07 has quit ("out")
[23:48:25]<mrfenix>Nice!!
[23:48:41]<betz>and then you create a view that shows all images filtered by that term
[23:49:07]<betz>and other view that shows all album terms for example
[23:49:07]<mrfenix>easy peazy!
[23:49:24]<betz>indeedy
[23:49:34]<mrfenix>shot betz!
[23:50:08]<ultra_>betz: thanks, I'll check it out
[23:50:14]<betz>np
[23:50:45]<mrfenix>One thing... I would like users to be able to name the image ablum themselves. So would they have access to creating taxonomy terms?
[23:51:11]<betz>yeah
[23:51:30]<betz>other way of deoing it and avoiding taxonomy is by node_reference
[23:51:46]<mrfenix>Hahahaha!! You know how I've been sitting for hours trying to work this out. lmao!
[23:52:07]<betz>so you have a content type 'albums' and other contenttype 'photos'
[23:52:07]<mrfenix>Its 2am and I have a site due for later this morning for launch. lol!
[23:52:27]<betz>know the feeling :)
[23:52:42]<betz>from where are you? its 2 am here also :)
[23:53:01]<ultra_>betz: I don't need to count the total number in a view, just the total amount of content, I was wondering if I could use views to count all the content and display the numbers
[23:53:22]<mrfenix>South Africa! I have my lion sitting right next to me. ;)

[23:54:30]<betz>ultra_: but you could make a view that does a query for all content, but shows nothing but the number of results. But yeah maybe it's a LITTLE bit overkill for that :)
