[01:54:59]* xxparanormalxx_ has joined #drupal-support
[01:55:09]<EgoProwler>have a quick question. My host has recently upgraded their servers to PHP5, currently, my account is running PHP 4.4.8. Now, they have me the ability easily switch to PHP, however, I need to make sure it does not kill my Drupal installation. Anyone have experience with this? I'm hosting multiple sites/domains on this hosting account.
[01:55:30]<EgoProwler>err, have given me the ability to switch over to php5
[01:56:19]<mr-reload>squid?
[01:56:39]<EgoProwler>?
[01:58:28]<mr-reload>EgoProwler: can you switch back easily too?
[01:59:17]<EgoProwler>it looks like I can. They give me 3 radio button options. PHP4, PHP5, and PHP FastCGI, so I'm assuming I can just switch back to 4 if it dies
[01:59:56]<EgoProwler>since the switch isn't making any changes to any of my PHP scripts I should not experience any major ill effects
[02:00:09]<drmessano>heh
[02:00:18]<drmessano>Easy way to see what doesnt work on PHP5
[02:00:24]<EgoProwler>yeah, exactly
[02:00:28]<drmessano>Better than, uninstall, reinstall, crap
[02:00:34]<drmessano>uninstall, reinstall
[02:01:01]<EgoProwler>I know I can go thru every one of my drupal modules to see that it has php5 support, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this come up on their host
[02:01:14]<drmessano>Drupal 4 or 5?
[02:01:17]<EgoProwler>5
[02:01:43]<drmessano>I've blindly installed a variety of modules never checking if they worked on PHP5.. Never had problems
[02:02:08]<EgoProwler>I'd have to double check, but pretty much all the modules I have running are pretty mainstream, nothing obscure that has little activity in the community
[02:02:29]<drmessano>yeah.. I will say I always make sure the modules I get are current.. that helps too

[02:37:12]* allisterb has quit (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))
[02:37:34]<EgoProwler>I would suggest going over to drupal.org and searching for 'trimmed story'
[02:37:57]<EgoProwler>there are a few ways of dong it and it will depend on where you want to adjust trim lengths, front page, other nodes, etc.
[02:38:35]<EgoProwler>some solutions require mucking w/ core drupal code, which I recommend against, and some are by way of modules or snippets
[02:38:39]* allisterb has joined #drupal-support
[02:39:39]<EgoProwler>actually, come to think of it
[02:40:06]<EgoProwler>in 5.x drupal. go to the configuration for the Node Module and you can change the trim length there

[05:44:11]<mcneelycorp>if you are looking for just the first result, you can limit the result. then use sort and or group to get just the node you want...
[05:44:17]<kthomas_vh>what I need is a view of a view of a view, which passes args though all

[05:44:56]<kthomas_vh>jonga, they do but not many of their features do

[05:46:24]<kthomas_vh>so want I want is "all nodes created by user X, where node Q is the first nodereference type Z to nodes of type P.
[05:46:46]<kthomas_vh>{Q} being the class defined
[05:47:03]<kthomas_vh>damn easy in mysql
